Micro Combined Heat & Power (mCHP)

Micro Combined Heat & Power (mCHP)

Micro CHP works very much like the gas central heating boiler and heats the home in just the same way. However, at the same time it generates electricity, some of which you will use, the remainder is exported to the grid to be used by your neighbours. The only difference you will notice is lower fuel bills and a cleaner planet.

It is anticipated that, ultimately, micro CHP may provide 20% or so of the UK's electricity generating capacity, more than is currently obtained from nuclear power.

mCHP produces much less carbon dioxide than other ways of providing heat and power. In fact, if the level of CHP was increased to the Government's target of 10,000 MW, the UK could be one third of the way to meeting its international commitments to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Nu-Heat systems can be integrated with Micro CHP systems.

Microchap - This site is provided for the benefit of the general public and students interested in micro Combined Heat and Power.

CHPA - The Combined Heat and Power Association works to promote the wider use of combined heat and power and community heating. Clean and efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is already in use on close to 1,400 locations around the UK.
