For years we have tolerated the intrusion of radiators for their function, not their beauty.
Why does there always seem to be one where you want to put a particular piece of furniture or to hang wall length curtains?
Underfloor heating is freedom: freedom to design your room layouts as you want them. Your space is your own.
But, is there a price to pay?
On the face of it, it will usually, although not always, cost more for underfloor heating than an equivalent radiator system. But look deeper.
Think of the valuable floor space gained by eliminating radiators and multiply that by what it costs to build that space. You may find that the gain totally outweighs the costs of the underfloor heating.
It is commonly believed that UFH is more suitable in a larger luxury property than a smaller one.
However, this is no longer true. Underfloor heating is arguably even more important in a small apartment or house than in a larger one. But why is this? This simple answer is again, space, in a small property the space gained is hugely significant. In a 600 square foot flat or micro flat, underfloor heating isn't really an option. It's essential for comfortable living.
