System Design

System design

In most domestic properties the rooms are of many different shapes and sizes with different outside wall and window areas and different ceiling heights. Each has its own heating requirement. The output of an underfloor heating system depends on many factors. The calculations are complex and it is important to get the design right first time. That is why Nu-Heat leaves nothing to chance, taking full responsibility for the design process.

To achieve this, Nu-Heat has developed its own design software package Optimiser™ over many years. Optimiser™ embodies the British and European design standard BS EN 1264 plus the fruits of a continuous programme of performance testing and of course the company's experience from the supply of thousands of domestic heating installations. The result is comfortable floor temperatures, correct room temperatures and effective controllability. You can be confident in the knowledge that performance is guaranteed.

For all Nu-Heat full systems the results from the design process are transferred to a Computer Aided Design tube layout drawing and specification.

Optimiser™ design is undertaken in consultation with each customer and includes:

  • Full room-by-room heatloss calculations to establish the heat outputs required
  • Establishing the most suitable floor heating scheme for the building
  • Determining the correct tube spacing in each room
  • Deciding the optimum water flow temperatures, calculating the pressure drops and flow rates and determining the correct heating pump size
  • Recommending the boiler capacity requirement, and the boiler pump and pipework sizes
  • Determining the best positions for the underfloor heating water components
